A telephone call from a lifetime away
Brought a sweet reunion to me today
Surprise and laughter filled my heart
As if we’d never been apart.
A town of childhood summers spent
Old memories of sweet reunions sent
Rivers of tears upon my face
Remembering this treasured place.
A song sparks unexpected glee
And sweet reunion with a memory
So strong that all my senses know
I’ve just reached out to long ago.
In the morning when I pray
I thank the Lord for one more day
A sweet reunion in my soul
With the One who makes me whole.
Then comes the day of glory
At the end of my life’s story
I’ll hear the Master call
For the sweetest reunion of all!

KEEP LOOKING UP
Daddy was a preacher
As a child I thought I was to keep
Now that I am older
With prayer I touch my Father
Inside I have discovered
~ ©Bobbie Burnett~
Spring is coming
Trees are budding
One more snowfall
Spring is coming
~ ©Bobbie Burnett~
Today I spied a spider
What futile effort. What a waste.
But with clarity and purpose
Some days I struggle upward
With each day that I begin
Brightly colored threads of struggle
~ ©Bobbie Burnett~
It took a second maybe two
What a nice surprise
How often have I thought
She left a note
Little things
How busy is my life
I can give more

And on his preacher's desk
A sign that read "Keep Looking Up"
My memory has kept.
My head turned toward the sky.
Not looking on the path ahead
I fell and bumped my eye.
And my father has passed on
"Keep Looking Up" sustains me
Through the dark and with the dawn.
The Heavenly One I know
My earthly father taught me
So many years ago.
An overflowing cup
I'm drawing from it daily
Daddy look! I'm looking up.
I can feel it
I'm sure it's just
A snow away.
Bees are buzzing.
The breeze is warmer
Every day.
Icy roads
Home made soup nights
Frosty panes.
I just know it
One more snowfall
Melt into May.
Inching up a silver vein
Then slowly and deliberately
He came back down again.
I arrogantly surmised.
This up, then down, then up again.
A useless exercise.
His constant efforts surged.
And through the struggle of his work
An elegant web emerged.
Fighting uphill. Wondering why.
And other days I'm gliding
Through a clear blue cloudless sky.
All the steps that I'll be taking
Is it all just a part of
Something bigger in the making?
Pulling through the joy and strife
It's a tapestry I'm weaving
On God's canvas of my life.
As I was walking out the door
For him to say
You look beautiful today!
And sweet sensation
That he took the time
To share what was on his mind.
Of someone dear to me
Then let it fall
And never call.
In my mailbox
"Great job" she said
All day it lingered in my head.
That mean so much
Lift us up
And fill our cup.
Anyway
That I can't do
Something kind for you?
Of myself
No time to wait
You're looking great!
